What's the real skinny on FAT?

The man who has been studying fat the longest, the "Fat Guru" Udo Erasmas
has studied biochemistry and genetics for eight years at the University of
British Columbia. He then obtained his Master's Degree and Ph.D. in
nutrition. He has spent the last 16 years of his life studying fats full time and has
written the book "Fat That Heal, Fats That Kill". These are his latest and
very exciting findings.

We've all become fat phobics, but the low fat diet causes lots of problems.
It'll stunt the growth of children and cause dry skin. You'll have low
energy levels. You can get a leaky gut and food allergies. If you stay on a
low fat diet for long enough your hair will fall out; males become sterile;
females miscarry; you'll get knee pains, not joint pain, arthritis-like
conditions; abnormal heartbeats. There are so many problems linked to not
eating enough fat, but what fats are we talking about?
EFA's (Essential
Fatty Acids.) The fats that are fresh unprocessed fats containing one or
both of essential fatty acids.
EFA's are like vitamins. They cannot be made
by our body from other substances therefore must be obtained from an outside
source (foods or supplements.)

EFA's are so important to health that if we obtain insufficient amounts, our
cells deteriorate. Prolonged deficiency leads to progressive degeneration
that ultimately results in death. Adding adequate amounts of
EFA's back into
the diet from which they are missing can reverse all symptoms of
degeneration (except death!) To promote good health, both
EFA's must be

present, in their natural state, in adequate quantities in our diet. They play an

important role in our skin, hair and nails. They also form a barrier in our skin

against loss of moisture. They make skin soft, smooth and velvety, and are

an excellent internal, edible cosmetic. People can even get relief from eczema,

acne, psoriasis and other skin conditions. An adult usually requires about

2 tablespoons per day.

These fats or
EFA's are also known as "FITNESS FATS."

Fitness fats keep you slim. They are anabolic because they increase the
body's ability to metabolise oxygen, and therefore, increase oxidation rate,
metabolic rate, energy level, stamina and performance. They speed recovery
after fatigue. Lack of "Fitness Fats" causes weakness and clumsiness (motor
co-ordination.)

Fitness Fats help curve cravings for sugar, junk foods and the wrong kinds
of fats.


Fitness Fats elevate mood and lift depression. We are less likely to overeat
because of being depressed.

Fitness Fats help our kidneys dump water. Without them our kidneys cannot do
their job properly and we retain water in our tissues.

Fitness Fats improve performance by improving calmness under pressure and
improve our ability to concentrate. Further to sleep better, and help us get
more rested with less sleep requirement.

Fitness Fats improves immune function and prevents infections from eating
our tissues. They also protect us from the toxic influences of many
oil-soluble pollutants such as pesticides, PCB's and chlorinated
hydrocarbons. These oil-soluble poisons exit our body with the oil par of
sweat.

Fitness Fats have anti-inflammatory properties. They help to minimise joint,
tendon and ligament strain and help heal those after performance.

Fitness Fats regulate the production of several important enzymes with vital
functions in our cell membranes. They also improve ATP (adenosine
triphosphate) production.

Fitness Fats help maintain a healthy gut flora promoting the growth of the
